Als Nederlandse aannemer in Vilanova i la Geltrú Barcelona werken we nu op meerdere projecten samen met Gerardo van Waalwijk van Doorn, Architect van het Architecten kantoor RARDO Architecten.

Als aannemer is het een verademing om samen te werken met een architect die niet alleen zijn wettelijk taken uitvoert maar een goed luisterend oor heeft. Gerardo van Waalwijk - the founder and inspiration of Rardo Architects - is a talented, creative young architect. A few years ago, he helped me with the modernization of a duplex apartment that I had bought in Sitges. He did a first-rate job and impressed me greatly by his skills in combining a flair for elegant design with a practical, problem-solving approach to optimizing the use of space and light. As I have seen from several other of his projects, he also possesses the versatility to adapt his skills to a range of client tastes and architectural styles. He is devoted to his profession and takes immense pride in delighting clients with his work. It is also a big plus that he has an educated international culture and speaks English and French fluently, in addition to his native Spanish tongue. I normally never make recommendations, but my experience with RARDO Architects was so positive I feel I need to share. A little background… I was living in Germany as my house in Spain was being renovated. As you can imagine that kind of situation can be quite stressful and it was imperative that I found a firm which could facilitate all aspects of the reconstruction without my being there. RARDO Architects did this flawlessly. When I had to come to Spain to choose the kitchen, flooring, paint, lighting, all of this appointments were made for me by the firm to optimize my time. I can’t tell you how easy they made it. If there was a problem with a delivery or a material issue the firm dealt with it, and I never had to stress about it. As everyone knows renovations are stressful, but I can honestly say I enjoyed this renovation immensely.

Those are the ‘facts’, but the thing that made my experience so enjoyable was the vision Gerardo (the architect) and I shared to make my home into a reality. What amazed me the most was that he could visualize what I said and make it into reality. We once spend an afternoon finding the perfect placement for a swing basket plexiglass chair and that created my living room. There are a lot of firms that can renovate homes. There are very few which work to create you perfect home with you.

In completion. I’ve recommended RARDO Architects to my friends as well, and I would never do that if I hadn’t had a truly great experience. I have a beautiful home, that is everything and more that I dreamed of and it is all because of the tireless attention to detail and truly creative genius of Gerardo and his team…
